Cart Rocket Creator Links vs Affiliate Apps

Shopify Collabs, UpPromote and GoAffPro run affiliate programs. Cart Rocket gives each creator their own version of one offer cart. Those are different jobs, and this page covers which one your creator campaign needs.

Short version: affiliate apps recruit creators, work out commissions and pay them. Cart Rocket does none of that, and its docs don't mention commissions or payouts. Instead, it gives every creator a ?ref= code on one cart link. Their followers land in a cart already loaded with the products and discount, orders are tagged for that creator, and Analytics shows opens, orders and revenue per creator. If you pay a percentage of sales to dozens of affiliates, you want an affiliate app. If you work with a few creators on a flat fee or a gift, and you want their followers in a loaded cart and a clear number for each creator, creator links may be all you need.

What affiliate apps do that Cart Rocket doesn't

All three apps are built around paying people for the sales they send you:

• To recruit, Collabs has a custom application page and direct invites. UpPromote has the UpPromote Marketplace, plus a Creator Discovery add-on from $39/month. GoAffPro lists custom registration and a branded affiliate portal with mobile apps for affiliates.
• For commissions, UpPromote and GoAffPro both list tiered commissions, bonuses and multi-level marketing. Collabs tracks commissions for each creator.
• Collabs pays commissions automatically through your Shopify bill. UpPromote pays through PayPal, bank transfer or card. GoAffPro lists PayPal, ACH, bank transfer, card and gift card payouts.
• UpPromote lists fraud protection and anti-leak discounts. GoAffPro lists fraud protection.

Cart Rocket has no creator sign-up page, no commission rules and no payouts. You find the creators, agree the deal and pay them yourself.

What a Cart Rocket creator link does

You build one cart link with the products the creators will show, add the discount to the link, and add each creator in the Creators section of the cart editor with a Name and a Code. Each creator gets their own version of the link. Orders through it are tagged creator-<code> by default, or with a tag you choose, and the Creators tab in Analytics shows opens, orders and revenue for each code.

The follower doesn't type a code or search for products. The link applies line-item, cart-wide or shipping discounts when it opens, or auto-applies a Shopify code, and sends them to the cart page, checkout or Shop Pay. The offer can also be a bundle at one price, have start and end dates and purchase limits, or open an options page with a countdown. The cart and its discounts are set on the server, so editing the URL changes nothing. The Influencer starter template sets up a creator cart with UTMs, the order tag creator and a 10% cart discount.

Creators on one cart link share its products and discount, so a creator who needs different picks or a different discount gets a separate cart link. More than one active cart link needs Pro. The numbers stop at opens, orders and revenue, so turning revenue into a payment is up to you.

Use an affiliate app if

• Creators earn a percentage of the sales they drive, and you need commissions worked out for you
• You want creators paid from inside the app, through your Shopify bill, PayPal or bank transfer
• You need to find new creators, or run an open program anyone can apply to
• You have many affiliates, or want tiers and multi-level commissions

Use Cart Rocket creator links if

• You work with a handful of creators on a flat fee, a gift or a deal you settle yourself
• You want one offer cart per drop, with each creator's followers landing in it with the discount already applied
• You want opens, orders and revenue per creator, and order tags you can filter or use in Shopify Flow, without setting up a separate affiliate program
• The offer needs a bundle price, an end date, a purchase limit or a size picker
